Biodynamic Craniosacral
Gentle yet potent, this light touch approach works with the fascia, fluids, tissues, & bones to restore balance to the nervous system
Exploring the Felt Sense
There are some kinds of pain that manual manipulation won’t touch. For folks who carry more emotional wounding or trauma that has turned symptomatic, this can appear as pain, sensitivity, and chronic illness. This type of signaling in the body often needs something that treats the root cause rather than the symptoms themselves.
Biodynamic CranioSacral or Somatic Experiencing Touchwork are both helpful in supporting the body to unwind and is more accessible for folks with needs around sensitivities to touch. In these practices we would use a combination of light touch techniques and perhaps some verbal communication to engage with the patterns by noticing and being with while allowing your system to take the lead. This would look like a series of holds and noticing, and is experienced with clothes on and either on the massage table or sitting or we might incorporate movement. People often notice sensations, access deeper rhythms of relaxation, and find clarity or movement with the aspects that were emerging.
This work can be both challenging and resourcing. We will work to find the edges of your capacity and expand that space so that you can hold more of your experience. This is slow work, and inner work, and it can be a long process to unwind these patterns. I recommend coming on a weekly basis for the first 4-8 weeks, and then biweekly after that if desired. Monthly or seasonal sessions are wonderful for a ‘check in’/maintenance practice. These sessions are typically 60 minutes long but more advanced participants might want longer sessions to take the experience even deeper..
If you find yourself feeling nervous about touch work but want to get to a place where it feels more accessible for your system, this might be a good fit for you. Somatic work will meet you wherever you are with the process, and we can work together to access new experiences.
Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy when combined with Somatic Experiencing can offer a a supportive approach to trauma healing. As SE supports people to track sensation, BCST unlocks the memory stored in the tissues, fluids, and bones so the body can settle.

What to expect?
These sessions happen in person at the Asheville studio. You will remain fully clothed so wear loose and comfortable clothing. When you come in we will take a few minutes to get settled. Then you will be invited to lay down on the massage table and get comfy. The practitioner will ask some questions but mostly the session will be quiet. The practitioner will place their hands at various locations on the body (at joints, bones, diaphrams, organs, etc) and see what you notice allowing your nervous system to deepen into stillness. At the end of the session we check in about your experience and take note of the new awareness or visceral experience. Each session builds on the last one as your nervous system practices the rhythm of rest and reset and each moment there is an opportunity to go deeper.
